Wizz Air Sofia Marathon

They didn't provide all the participants with medals, because they are so greedy that accept unlimited registration and they don't have medals for all. It is very disappointing to run the same distance like the others and to be left without your promised reward. The race didn't provide the participants with vouchers for Wizz Air flights as promised. This is the worst organized race that I have ever took part. I am very disappointed.

The participants of 10K were left without enough water. The volunteers in the race denied water to 10K participants because they were saving ot for 21/42 K runners. Also the participants in 10K were piled up in a queue just before the finish line and instead of finishing at your best and maximum effort you had to wait on the queue to cross the finish line and to understand that there isn't enough medals.

The track was basically from the city center to the airport on one of the main highways. It was fast but kindly boring without people supporting you. In addition I faced couple of times language barriers and it was a problem to get a digital format of the tract to upload it to my GARMIN watch. Otherwise it was nice.

Really bad experience overall. They ran out of water after the half-marathon, so us marathoners were left without anything to drink for basically all of the second half. Thankfully some of the public brought some water bottles and started handing them out. It seemed that once the half finished they completely forgot about the rest and left the stations completely empty.

The weather was great. Unfortunately, it was too crowded. It was very hard to run freely without thinking if you would hit somebody or somebody would hit you. It was dangerous to try to run as fast as you can because of the crowd.

It was a well organized event. When I participated back on 2019, it was not too crowded. You can make a pb record because there are few uphills. It's a two lap "half-marathon" race, so it's easier to organize your splits and have a greater result at the end.

E' stata una bellissima gara , ottima organizzazione perfetta , non era troppo affollata anche il ristoro buono (gli ultmimi hanno trovato poche cose da mangiare.)

La gara si svolgeva su due giri è personalmente non sono molto soddisfatto.

The route was very good, especially if you want a PR. It was well organized. I have been there twice and I will go again this year.

I have run Sofia three times (2013, 2017 and 2018). The new course is excellent for anyone who wish to set a PR, with great scenery, good aid stations and cheerful crowds. It's a marathon with very good value-for-money. The city of Sofia has a lot to offer to its guests. I look forward for the 2019 edition!

It was the third time i ran Sofia Marathon and i can say definitely that it's getting better and better every year. It is a great flat route ideal for P.B. records, well organized and with fantastic atmosphere especially at start and finish line area ! Comparing to other races all over Europe Sofia Marathon has a "best value for money" price and Sofia is a very beautiful city for a 3-4 days excursion. I will be there once again next October with my friends!!! Highly recommended !!!

I have ran the half marathon with a friend who was on a wheelchair and we loved the whole experience, people were cheering the atmosphere was electric. The best part was we did finish in incredible time of 2.05 h I think... So we are back next year for the full 26.miles be ready for us Sofia !!!!

I was shocked to find out that my chip has only register the first lap of the halt marathon. Not sure if my jacket had anything to do with it but I have run many marathons with jackets around my waist before. Poor organization, no signs, no bathrooms ,water stations ware terrible.

Total traffic chaos - no signs, no information ... interesting choice for Wizz Air to make ... Truly, major events shouldn't be tackled if the organisers are unable (or not interested) to do it properly. Very poor show Sofia City, etc.

Pros: The organisation was excellent. The road was flat and weather was perfect. Great crowds Cons: The half marathon course is actually 2 loops of 10 km.

Really enjoyed the half marathon, fairly flat route with a few light undulations and bends to keep it interesting. Loved how you got to see the elite marathon runners pass a couple of times in the opposite direction. Great value, way cheaper than comparable UK events and included a shirt and kit bag as well as the medal. Lots of water stations including some put on by local businesses. The only improvement would be the bag drop as collection was disorganised and run by children who couldn't cope. Didn't help that we all had the same bag!

I managed third in my age category which was amazing! Even got a selfie with the elite runners who were relaxing with the general competitors
