The Zilveren Turfloop is an annual and well-attended running and walking event in De Ronde Venen. It is the first in the series of 9 runs of the Zorg en Zekerheid circuit.

On Sunday, November 3, 2024, Mijdrecht will host the Zilveren Turfloop, a popular running classic through the beautiful polder. This event offers something for everyone, whether you are an experienced runner or just want to enjoy a nice walk.

The day starts early, between 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM, with the 5 km and 10 km hikes. The walkers trek through the serene polder landscape, enjoying the peace and space. At 10 a.m. it is time for the youngest participants to take part in the GeZZinsLoop. This is a fun and accessible race for children, where fun comes first.

For runners with disabilities there is the G-Run, which starts at 10.20 am. This special race offers everyone the opportunity to participate and get the best out of themselves.

At 11 a.m. the starting gun will sound for the 10 English Miles (16.1 km), a beautiful route that takes participants along the picturesque Kromme Mijdrecht. Five minutes later the 5 km runners start, making a nice lap through the park. At 11.20 am the runners leave for the 10 km, which, like the longer distance, also runs along the Kromme Mijdrecht.

Whether you come to walk, run, or just to experience the atmosphere, the Zilveren Turfloop promises to be a sporty and fun day in the heart of the polder.
