The TGS EXTREME is held almost entirely on mountain trails. After leaving the city center of Mandello del Lario (200 m) and reaching the village of Somana, the trail quickly begins to climb into the forest for the first major ascent to Zucco Sileggio (1348 m). From there, the summit of Mount Pilastro is reached which is the maximum altitude of the trail, descending then to Bocchetta di Prada. A quick traverse leads runners to Rifugio Bietti-Buzzi (1704 m). Hence, the trail goes down among beech trees to Alpe Calivazzo, then to Era Bassa (835 m), where the first time gate is located, at five hours after the start. The second ascent begins here, gradually reaching Rifugio Elisa (1485 m). It drops again to Gardata (1020 m - 29 km), then to Versarico (720 m), where the second time gate is located, at eight and a quarter hours after the start. At this point the final climb to the last peak begins: the Zucco di Manavello (1025 m). The final downhill, steep in the first part and more suitable for running in the second, closes the loop at Mandello del Lario. Maximum time: 11 hours. The maximum number of participants is set to 150 for the TGS Extreme race. The shorter course, called TGS SPRINT, is 22 kilometers in length, with a total elevation gain of 1.800 meters. The TGS SPRINT is held almost entirely on mountain trails, although it is shorter in length: 21 kilometers, with a total elevation gain of 1,800 meters. After leaving the center of Mandello del Lario (200 m) and reaching the village of Somana, the route takes a different direction from that of the long course, turning right and passing by the small church of Santa Maria and heading up to Era Bassa alp (822 m). From there, the uphill continues to Gardata (1020 m), where the short course rejoins the long course. After that, the track carries runners to Versarico (730 m), where the time gate is located, four hours after the start. At this point, the second ascent to the last peak begins to the Zucco di Manavello (1025 m). The final descent, steep in the first part and more suitable for running in the second, closes the loop at Mandello del Lario. Maximum time: 7 hours. The maximum number of participants is set at 250 for the TGS Sprint race.
