LGT Alpin Marathon

This was a wonderful race. Breathtaking scenery, probably one of the most beautiful races you could do. Highly recommend

Marathon starts out 6 miles flat and then 20 miles of climbing ending at the top of the country. Flat is on path and road, climbs are predominantly single track

LGT Alpin Marathon in Liechtenstein is one of my mountain marathon favorites.Coming from Germany Liechtenstein is much easier to reach than many other mountain marathons, and it is not difficult to get a ticket. I started in Liechtenstein two times - 2005 and 2017. In 2017 we were 365 finishers, which made the run very familiar. If it fits into my schedule I will come back sooner or later to Liechtenstein. The scenery is beautiful and comparable to the Jungfrau Marathon in Interlaken. The first 10 kilometers from Bendern to Vaduz are flat, and then you begin to run uphill. In total you have to climb up 1870 meters and to step down 720 meters, which is not too hard. However, it is hard that you pass Malbun at km 39 and you can hear the announcements for the runners at the finish line, but you still have to do very hilly three kilometers. This is a little bit mean. Nevertheless, the beautiful views at the mountains and the warm and personal welcome at the finish pay for your struggle against the course. After the run the shuttle service will bring you back savely to the starting place in Bendern.
