This event is a FREE ride/race in the Gran Fondo style. We're keeping it simple with Strava Segment timing and riders that are competing in the competitive categories MUST upload their ride file to Strava and mark it “public” by 4pm on the event date. Gran Fondo rides have multiple segments that are timed and the lowest cumulative time in each category wins the category. The 55 mile route has several gravel sections which will be the timed segments. The approximate start and finish of these sections will be marked with signage to note the beginning and end of a timed segment.
We are using this event as a fundraiser for a program initiated by Ashland Bike Company called “EVERYBODY RIDES.” The goal of EVERYBODY RIDES is to provide the necessary cycling related goods and service to customers who have difficulty due to disability, socioeconomic status, injury, or other issues but still deserve to have their bike repaired or in some cases replaced with a reasonable alternative. A small donation is suggested for this event. You can provide that on the event registration through PledgeReg or simply bring cash on the day of the ride. We ask all participants to register and sign a waiver to participate.
Riders that wish to participate but do not want to be considered in any competitive category or want to stick to a shorter and fully paved route can choose the non-competitive 55 mile or 55 km (34 miles) route.
