August 17th, 2024 marks the inaugural running of "the greatest test of wheels and willpower." The Squamish Traverse is an out-and-back race on 100 impressive kilometers of world-renowned off-road terrain. Racers will contend with three major climbs, and over 90 kilometers of gravel and singletrack, climbing as high as 1700 meters above the town. Along the way, racers will enjoy stunning views and scenic alpine meadows, as well as four fully stocked aid stations. In total, the Squamish Traverse includes over 4000 meters of climbing, making for a magnificent challenge. If that seems ridiculous, which it is, participants can also choose the Peak Route course. Peak Route riders will still experience the crown jewel of the Squamish Traverse, while covering a more manageable 65 kilometers and 2300 meters of elevation gain. The Peak Route course bypasses the Diamond Head climb, while still including over 50 kilometers of off-road terrain. Unlike the 100k race, the Peak Route is not timed, with the exception of the 12 kilometer climb to the top of Brohm Ridge. Undoubtedly, these are both incredible challenges, and will make for some epic days on the bike. See you out there!
