Join us for our new and exciting CycleNY Advocacy Ride on Long Island - Welcome Back Riders!!
Join us on Sunday, October 13, 2024 for the 9th annual CycleNY Long Island Ride to benefit the NY Bicycling Coalition (NYBC.net). The ride will begin at the spectacular Sunken Meadow State Park, with 25 mile and 50 mile route options. Both routes will be special and will take you through some of the area's most beautiful and best riding roads. The longer route option will include more challenging hills.
Note: This is a non refundable, rain or shine event. Remember, every dollar of your registration benefits the New York Bicycling Coalition!!!
We are very excited and fortunate to have been able to plan this ride from Sunken Meadow State Park for our first offsite ride on Long Island. Sunken Meadow State Park offers many stunning views of Long Island Sound as well as Connecticut and can be enjoyed both pre and post ride. Sunken Meadow State Park is complete with beaches, a boardwalk and hiking trails to enjoy. We will be utilizing the East Orchard Pavilion for both the launch and end of our ride, as it is perfect for our needs complete with picnic tables and bathrooms, yay!
Arrival: There is plenty of parking near the pavilion. Some of the early riders may choose to arrive before 8am in order to not pay the entrance fee. You may also choose to park outside of the park in the village of Kings Park and ride over to avoid the fee as well.
Departure: Riders will be promptly sent out after our brief welcome, NYBC updates and route info. There will be 2 departures and prefer all riders stick to their scheduled departure time.
Rest Stops: Always provided with nutritious snacks to energize your ride!
Post ride gathering: Special refreshments after the ride have always been a tradition that has made this ride special. Please feel free to hang out as long as you like and enjoy. We can't wait to see you all!
As you know, NYBC (New York Bicycling Coalition) is the only state-wide bicycle advocacy group working to keep New York roads safe for all cyclists. We also have a robust statewide bike safety awareness and education program. We continue to always support and advocate the expansion of more multi use trails on Long Island.
This ride is a way for us to meet other cyclists in our region, raise awareness of NYBC, grow membership and enjoy the beauty of Long Island's North Shore.
