The Friends of the Weiser River Trail presents this bike ride each June on the first Saturday. The ride has two options so you can choose the distance of either 28 miles or 48 miles. If the ride you want is full, please register for the wait list and we will try to accommodate you. The ride is designed for recreational riders of all abilities. The ride starts at the north end of the trail near New Meadows and riders proceed to either Council or Cambridge. The ride is predominantly downhill after a brief climb near the start.
Riders meet at either Cambridge Trailhead (7:30 am) or Council Trailhead (8:00 am) where bikes are loaded onto transports and riders board a bus to shuttle to the start location. There are restroom facilities at each trailhead, at the start location. Snack stops near Starkey about 18 miles from the start and at Goodrich trailhead about 35 miles from the start also have restrooms. Lunch for all riders in Council.
The Council Trailhead is located on Hornet Creek Road which is located about 3 blocks from Main Street, turn west on Cental Avenue then north on Railroad Street and the trailhead is located on the left as the road turns west and becomes Hornet Creek Road. The Cambridge Trailhead is located on Highway 95 on the north side of town just after the highway makes a right turn.
A helmet is required not only for your safety, but also by our insurance policy so you cannot ride without one. Check your bike mechanically so you are able to ride it the distance. Bring clothing layers appropriate for the weather. The weather can change from snow to rain to warm sunshine so be aware of the forecast. Prepare your bike to be transported by removing bags from racks, frames, and handlebars. Carry those with you on the bus and reinstall them at the start location.
