The Run for Down Syndrome was started in 2009 by the running group 2FGR (Two Fat Guys Running), with the very modest goal to raise $5,000 in support of the Down syndrome community. Now going on its 15th year, the 2FGR Run for Down Syndrome donated over $45,000 in 2023 and over $400,000 in its first 14 years.
The event benefits the Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio (DSACO). DSACO’s mission is to support families, promote community, and encourage a lifetime of opportunities for people with Down syndrome. Proceeds raised at this event support DSACO’s wide range of programs and services for people with Down syndrome, including Community Access Funds which allow people with Down syndrome access to participate in inclusive programs in the community, and other initiatives such as DSACO’s iCan Bike Camp and Golf Academy.
