Run570 is happy to continue the partnership with the Freeland YMCA Swim Team and Eagle Rock Resort to manage the 17th annual Beware of the Barracuda Triathlon. The swim will be held at the base of the Eagle Rock Resort, on its crystal clear, spring fed Lake Susquehanna. The Bike course will be a 2 loop course all within the Eagle Rock Resort, and you will finish with a 3.1 mile run near the lake.
SWIM: All athletes must walk across the swim/check mat before the start of the 750 yard swim. Athletes will start from inside the swim zone at the water’s edge, near the far right side of the beach. The swim will be an out and back, coming in on the far left side of the beach. (essentially a triangle)
Wave 3 will be the super sprint distance 300 yard swim, they will make an earlier left and turn towards the finish.
TRANSITION: The transition area is a parking lot across from the lake. Athletes will come out of the water and run across the sandy beach before entering transition. Bikes are racked in a first come – first racked fashion the morning of the race. The transition area opens to participants at 5 AM.
BIKE: 2 Loop Bike Course (1 loop for Super Sprint)
Our Triathlon team has ridden the updated tri course several times, it is relatively flat and spectator friendly, there are a decent amount of turns. *DO NOT CROSS THE SOLID YELLOW LINES. With bike traffic running out and back on some sections of the road, it is an important safety concern.
RUN: Athletes will exit the parking lot on the lower side following the road out. The run will be a short out and back across the breast of the dam/across the lake, and then continue down the run course to a turn around. On your return trip, you WILL NOT repeat the DAM-OUT AND BACK. Volunteers will be there to direct you.
Super Sprint athletes will come directly back to the finish link after the out and back on the dam. (super sprint turns RIGHT / sprint will continue farther LEFT)
