Veterans Day 5

Celebrate Veterans Day 2024 with the fifth annual Veterans Day 5, starting and finishing at the Michigan Veteran Homes at Grand Rapids on Saturday, November 9!  Offering timed 5 mile and 5K runs, along with a no charge, untimed .5 mile Remembrance Walk, the Veterans Day 5 will benefit the Michigan Veteran Homes at Grand Rapids. Commemorate Veterans Day by participating in the Veterans Day 5, and get to know some of Grand Rapids' very own veterans!  (Volunteer registration opening in August!)

 

The Community Pancake Breakfast will take place in the Michigan Veteran Homes at Grand Rapids' Bistro and be available from 8:30a-11:30a, complimentary for all registered 5 mile and 5k participants, and volunteers; $5 donation for all others.

 

Special thanks to Zero Day for acting as the fiduciary for the Veterans Day 5. They will donate 100% of the event proceeds and donations to the Michigan Veteran Homes at Grand Rapids following the event. And special thanks to myTeam Triumph -- Michigan Chapter for coordinating Angels to push some of the Home's residents as Captains in the 5k run on event day. Event check-in will take place beginning at 7:15 am on Saturday, November 9 at the Michigan Veteran Homes at Grand Rapids (2950 Monroe Avenue NE). Please enter off Coit to park at Sunshine Community Church just north of the Home (3019 Coit Avenue NE, Grand Rapids 49505) to keep the start/finish line clear of traffic. Once parked, you'll walk west on Lamberton from the parking lot and follow the yard signs for Event Check-in/Community Pancake Breakfast to access the Home where event check-in/late registration will take place in the Chapel and the post-event Pancake Breakfast in the Bistro. You will then be directed back to the start/finish line on Lamberton.

PLEASE NOTE:  Participant shirts will be ordered to size for all those registered by 11:59 pm on Wednesday October 30.  Those who register after October 30 will not receive a shirt but will have the option for their entry to be discounted by $5. To receive this discount, simply email Kristen at [email protected] after you have registered. This is being done so as much money as possible can be raised through this event to support quality of life activities for our local veterans living at the Michigan Veteran Homes at Grand Rapids.  Over $4,000 was raised through the 2023 event!
