Tour de Pocahontas 2024
This is designed as a stage race (and we hope you register for the stage race for the best deal and experience ), although you can enter an individual race. The stage race registration will include all 3 races, rustic camping, or camper (no hookups) for Friday and Saturday night. You will be asked during registration if you are staying and what nights. All overnight stays are at the race venue in Algonquin, not the park's main camping area. We may have a few rustic cabins available, for an additional cost, if desired. These are basic and offer walls, a rood overhead and twin bunk beds and electricity. Please inquire to this event for availability and cost.

Race Venue:
Pocahontas State Park: The setting is Camp Algonquin, in the heart of the Lake View 1 mountain bike trails, in beautiful Pocahontas State Park (approx 8,000 acres).

Parking: Fee for Pocahontas State Park is $7 per day per car. They take cards, but the fastest way is to have correct cash amounts. If you have a Virginia State Park Pass, please have it displayed prior to the contact station.
Race Location: All events start and end in the center of Lake View 1. The complex is called Algonquin. Directions: enter the park and continue to Parking Contact Station. Once you past the station make your first right on East State Park Rd. Drive 1/2 mile down East State Park Rd to Algonquin sign where you make a left on a dirt road. Drive about 3/10 mile to your first left. In about 50 meters there will be a grass field on your left. Parking for Saturday is in this grass field, do not use the dirt parking lot. This is where those in tents will camp. Pleas set up along tree line towards the fire pit. Those in cabins, they are located past this grass field on your right.

*the park and race director are required to follow park/trail rules. They reserve the right to adjust course routes and distances due to trail conditions and closures.
More race weekend information:
Saturday race number pickup will begin at 8am at Algonquin at the tent with the tall REGISTRATION flag next to it.
To assist any out of town racers (or anyone racing) we will offer camping Friday night as well as Saturday night at no fee. Located at Algonquin within Pocahontas (this Is not their "normal" camping area available to the public). If you arrive Friday, you will be able to check in that evening for your races. More info/details will be distributed to registered racers prior to race weekend.
Friday pickup:
Pickup will be available for those at the park. I hope to be available from 5-7pm although I will be around the park most of the day.. We will also offer pickup the hour prior to the start of each of the races.
Housing option:
There will be rustic cabins (twin bunk beds) that will sleep 4-8 each. These offer a light, outlet, several sets of bunks. There is a bath house/showers available.

+ If you plan to camp at the race venue, please email me the names in your party and nights you plan to stay
There are several local restaurants and a Food Lion if you’d like to head out for meals.
