Come run or walk in Global Hands of Hope's fundraiser 5K Run, 2 Mile Walk or 1/2 mile Kid's run to raise funds for the expenses associated with a Safe House for young girls at risk for or already experiencing abuse in the village of Bukeka, Uganda. Global Hands of Hope Uganda (https://ghoh.org/) , in partnership with Lifesong for Orphans (https://lifesong.org/), over the last several years has built 3 Safe Houses for over 200 girls and boys attending the Suubi ("Hope") School. Now we are trying to raise funds for the expenses associated with caring for these precious girls and boys with four full-time "House Moms" (social workers) and other resources. Ronald Nalera, president of Global Hands of Hope, plans to virtually attend the event and give an update on the exciting work in Uganda! The kids at the Suubi school will be doing their own 5K again before our event, with plans of footage of the Ugandan race shown after our event!
The Safe House Run is on Saturday, May 4 at Dust to Glory Fitness, at 716 E. Empire Street Unit G, Bloomington, IL 61701. That is right where the Constitution Trail meets Empire Street. The race will be entirely on the Constitution Trail.
Registration fee for adults 18 and up is 40$ (includes T-shirt) for the 5K run or 2 mile walk, and this year kids 17 and under pay just 5$ for registration (10$ extra for optional t-shirt) for 1/2 mile run, 5K run, or 2 mile walk. Walk up registration is $5 extra- 45$ for adults, 10$ for kids. Race bib and packet pick-up starts at 8:30 am the day of the race. Kid's Run is at 9 am, 5K and 2 mile walk start at 09:20 am.
