Running for Rick is a charity event to help raise money for Parkinson's research in honor of Rick Doke, a tenured cross-country coach and teacher in Decatur City Schools. The race was created by a group of his students to honor his contributions to the community. According to the Parkinson’s Foundation, over 10 million people worldwide suffer from Parkinson’s disease. In the United States alone, approximately 1 million people live with Parkinson’s, with 90,000 more cases diagnosed each year. Currently, there is no known cure for Parkinson’s.
The proceeds of your race entry will be donated to the Michael J. Fox Foundation to directly fund Parkinson's research, or if you would rather make a donation, please click the Donate tab above.
In honor of a man who has done so much to help his community, please help us fight Parkinson's disease in any way you can.
