The first annual “Runnin’ On Insulin 10k” will take place in Homewood, Alabama on September 23rd at 7am. All proceeds will go to benefit Camp Seale-Harris, a Summer camp designed to educate, empower, and energize young folks with type 1 diabetes.
In September of 2013, Eric Wallace was diagnosed with type 1–a condition that occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys the body’s healthy insulin-producing cells. There is no cure for type 1 diabetes, and those with the disease face many challenges.
With this event, Eric seeks to commemorate his own decade-long experience with type 1 by raising awareness about the disease, and funds for a great program at Camp Seale-Harris. Type 1 is often diagnosed during childhood, and affects people indiscriminately. Your support directly impacts Camp Seale-Harris’s scholarship fund, offering children with type 1 diabetes an experience that will certainly change their lives–regardless of their economic circumstances.
