This year's recipient is Terrie Connelly. Terrie is battling her second stint of Cancer at the age of 53. She and her family reside in Byron, MN where they have been avid sports fans and players.
The Melby Memorial 5K race is one segment of the annual Melby Memorial Charities event. Each year this event is held to raise money for an individual or family experiencing financial hardships due to illness, unforeseen events, or other losses. The charity is a dedication to Paul Melby who died in 2011 from an un-diagnosed heart condition. Paul was an avid sports fan - particularly interested in volleyball and running. Each year we choose a person(s) that have a connection to athletics and could use help during a tough time. The event also includes a silent auction, volleyball tournament, and many other festivities at WildWood Bar to raise funds for our recipient each year. Melby Memorial Charities also sponsors boys' volleyball in the Olmsted County area to continue to advance South-East, MN.
Each runner gets a T-shirt and free drink ticket (value up to $5) for Wild Wood Sport Bar!!
