Come experience the excitement of Kilkenny as it hosts its first-ever Medieval Marathon! Set against the historic backdrop of the city, this event will take participants on a journey through some of the most iconic sites before leading them on a scenic route through the countryside. The marathon will finish at The Parade, located in the heart of the city.In addition to the full marathon, there will also be options for a 30k, half marathon, and 10k race, with all participants completing their challenge at The Parade. Finishers of the Kilkenny Medieval Marathon will receive a unique medal and technical t-shirt to commemorate their victory. The organisation was super at start and finish. And the course was relatively flat but slightly boring. The finish is spectacular as if winds its way through the medieval city and finishes under the battlements of the city castle. Award for best T shirt ever... Almost worth it for the snazzy T alone
Long winding route out if the city onto back roads. Plenty of locals on hand with goodies. Oh and the route did visit a whiskey distillery (oddly)... Nope I did not partake mostly because I was in my own world of hurt to notice 😂
