-----------------
The 50k and 100k Lazy Horse Gravel Grind are back for 2024. The 50k and 100k tours have a Saturday morning start and are non-competitive bicycle gravel tours of Southeast Nebraska that will feature some of the most scenic and challenging routes available in the Fillmore, Jefferson and Thayer County areas.
Depending on weather conditions in the days leading up to the tour, we will have both wet and dry route options. Expect several minimum maintenance roads, truss bridges, pea gravel, challenging climbs out of the Little Blue River valley and Big Sandy Creek bed, in addition to several low water crossings.
Our routes take you through several towns allowing for breaks and to grab some light snacks. There are also smaller remote stops located along the route. We will have a support vehicle should you have any mechanical failures.
Our 50k and 100k ride date is Saturday, May 18th with check-in from 7:00-7:45 a.m. CST for the 100k and 8:00-8:45 a.m. CST for the 50k. We will be doing a half hour roll out time for each race.
Our focus is to provide both experienced riders and those folks wanting to give gravel a try a safe, fun day. Because we are a tour, there is no pressure of a timed event, and we encourage you to get off your bike and explore the proud heritage of our pass-through communities.
Participants will recieve a wrist band with our contact information and an event t-shirt. We are including a shower in the 11-person individually stalled shower trailer by the Pork Belly Ventures, LLC. Your first beverage is on the house after you finish. Additionally, Lazy Horse's brewpub will be open featuring their famous brick-fired pizza for purchase. We will even be brewing and canning a beer especially for the event!
All routes start and finish from our facility located at: 211 Road 20, Ohiowa, NE, 68416.
