Join The SPECS Movement along with our partners Keller ISD Families for Public Education and Dignity for All Texas Students on Saturday, June 15, 2024, for a memorable morning of community, commemoration, and challenge at Bear Creek Park in Keller, TX. Juneteenth commemorates the day when the last community of enslaved Americans in Galveston, Texas, received word that they had been freed from bondage 2.5 years after the emancipation proclamation was signed. This Run/Walk is 2.5 miles in memorial of that day.
The SPECS Movement is an anti-racism and cultural understanding organization that seeks to create opportunities to see life through the perspective of others.
This special event, held in honor of Juneteenth, promises an invigorating run/walk through the picturesque park setting. This is a family friendly event, and all paces are welcome! Kids are welcome to ride their bikes or scooters.
And for those who prefer an alternative to running or walking, Yoga will also be available!
All proceeds will go towards The SPECS Movement annual MLK Day Scholarship fund for Keller ISD students.
