The 4th Annual Jarid Taylor Memorial 5k & Fun Run is brought to you by our Hero, our title sponsor, CMC Metals.
Jarid was a Bryan County Sheriff’s Deputy who lost his life in the line of duty on January 14, 2020. He was in route to a 911 call when he was in a fatal car accident. Although he loved his job, he was much more than a police officer. Jarid’s greatest accomplishment was being a Daddy to two beautiful children. He loved to deer hunt, watch OU football, and had the best sense of humor. Jarid leaves behind family and friends who loved him dearly who want to always honor and remember him for the wonderful person he was.
C.O.P.S. (Concerns of Police Survivors) is an organization that assists family members and co-workers of fallen policers officers with resources to help them after experiencing such a tragic loss. The money raised from the 5k and Fun Run will be given in Jarid’s name to help support the Oklahoma C.O.P.S. chapter and their mission to assist families and co-workers of fallen officers.
In addition to giving to the Oklahoma C.O.P.S. chapter, we will be contributing to the Jarid Taylor Memorial Fund. This scholarship fund awards the Jarid Taylor Heart of a Hero Award at each CLEET and Kiamichi Technology Center Police Academy graduation. To date, we have awarded five Heart of a Hero awards.
It is my hope that the Jarid Taylor Memorial 5k & 1M Fun Run will be an event that not only helps bring our community together in support of our local law enforcement, but allows those who participate an opportunity to remember Jarid and celebrate both his life and birthday which is July 28th.
