The race headquarters is at the Annex of Community Church of Huntington, next to the Town Office. Both races, the 1-mile fun walk/hike of the Community Forest and the road 5K out/back up Camel's Hump Road starts at the playground of Brewster Pierce Memorial School which allows for increased safety of all our participants keeping race traffic off of the busy main road.
The 5k out and back on Camel's Hump Road is a dirt road that passes verdant fields and the rolling river as it gently slopes up towards one of the state's most iconic mountains -- Camel's Hump! The 1 mile fun walk/hike in the Town's Community Forest is a beautiful course up and down the hills that overlook the Town center. The Forest loop tends to be on the wetter side, so please wear appropriate footwear (mud boots!) if there has been recent rain. All races end at the BPMS playground and participants' can then meander over to the Annex for live music and an ice cream sundae!
This race is made possible by Community Church of Huntington and many other local sponsors and is the largest fundraiser for Neighbor Helping Neighbor (NHN)—our community-based safety net for children, families, and seniors in the greater Huntington area. NHN helps the neighbors in our midst who are struggling with immediate financial crisis—such as the inability to pay for fuel, electricity, food, or other essential basic needs. NHN also supports local programs such as Soups' On & The Backpack Program. Because the Community Church of Huntington (CCH) underwrites the administrative and operating costs for NHN, all funds we raise go directly toward providing confidential, short-term assistance.
