Grand Chambéry Marathon

As a participant in the very first edition of the marathon of Chambéry I was very happy with the way it turned out. It was a very friendly atmosphere with residents turning out to cheer on the crowds. As a small marathon it was not difficult to find a place at the starting line which was a relief as a first time marathoner. The views were stunning which was a definite highlight of the day and there were people stationed all along the course to ensure that we were always following the right path. I really hope that this marathon becomes a yearly event because I would love to run it again. Best part was the chiropractors at the finish line to help out and relieve pain to injured runners - lines were not bad as the amount of runners was manageable. If you are looking for a laid back marathon this is a great one.

The marathon course was well thought out and very enjoyable - water and food stations were evenly distributed and staffed by friendly and encouraging volunteers. My favorite part was seeing families and especially young children ecstatic about the event and cheering on the runners every step of the way - it was a very family friendly event with many kids and friends and family members crossing the finish line with their marathoners. The whole city turned out to observe the marathon which made it feel like I was not alone. Truly enjoyed my first marathon and cannot wait for the next one !
