On September 2, 2022, at 4:20 a.m., Eliza Fletcher was abducted around the University of Memphis campus during her morning run. Eliza was a teacher, mother-of-two and businesswoman who started her day doing something she loved, going for a run. Tragically her body was found days later in a vacant area 7.5 miles from where her run ended.
Our hearts are with Eliza Fletcher and her family. Women deserve to run without fear and at any time. On Monday, September 4, at 4:15 a.m., we will be running in her honor on Daniel Island to spread awareness to finish Liza's Run.
We welcome all runners, and there is no cost to participate. We will meet at Smythe Lake for an 8-mile loop and an 8.2-mile run to honor Eliza Fletcher. You don't need to register to participate in a run to honor Eliza.
Brian Martin, a family friend, is organizing this run. Please reach out to him for more information- [email protected].
