The 1st Annual 877th Engineer Battalion 5K or 10K Run or Walk, and GORUCK 10K Ruck (Sponsored by Fontaine Trailer, Haleyville, AL) will raise money for the 877th Engineer Battalion military service members and their family. This event will be open to all Civilian, Public Service, Active-Duty Military, Reservist, National Guard personnel, and Veterans. All proceeds will go to the 877th Engineer Battalion military service members and their family, and the Dining Out Function.
The race will consist of a 5K or 10K Run or Walk, and 10K GORUCK Ruck along a measured and designated route (Same route as used for the Mark Forester Price of Freedom Race).
The 5K and 10K Run or Walk will require participants to run or walk along a measured and designated route. Participants will complete the course in the fastest time possible. All finishers receive a T-shirt.
The GORUCK 10K Ruck will require participants to move together as a group along a measured, designated route, and complete multiple tasks together at predetermined locations along the course (tasks include push-ups, air squats, lunges, etc.). Total distance covered will be 10K. Participants will bring their own Ruck (aka. backpack) with Army standard weight of approximately 35lbs dry weight. Dry weight meaning before food, snacks or hydration weight are added. Rucks will be weighed prior to event start time. All ruck participants will be required to weigh their rucks no later than 30 minutes prior to their race start time. The GORUCK event is Cadre led by the Sua Sponte Ruckers Ruck Club. Total distance covered will be 10K. All finishers receive a T-shirt and GORUCK Patch.
While this event will be run on a measured course, there will be no use of timing mats or chips. Each 5k and 10K Run and Walk participants will be responsible for keeping their own individual time if they are attempting a PR or training for another event. There will be a running clock for overall event time.
