Greater Gallatin United Way is expanding the Dolly Parton's Imagination Library program to Park County, and we are ready to celebrate!
Dolly Parton's Imagination Library (DPIL) mails one free book, per month to kids under the age of five. Literacy skills are developed long before children are able to read, just like language skills are learned long before children can speak. Children that are read to at least 3 times a week are almost twice as likely to score in the top 25% in reading, according to the US Department of Education. And right now, 28% of Elementary school students in Montana are falling behind their peers in reading. DPIL is funded by Greater Gallatin United Way, who has sent over 40,000 books to kids in Gallatin County since 2019. It has been a goal of theirs to expand the program to Park County to provide free books with as many children as possible, and because of generous donors in our community, they have done it!
Come kick-off Park County's DPIL program with us! The event will include a 1k dash, 5K dash and an early literacy fair including local partners who do excellent work in Park County encompassing early literacy. Bring the whole family and sign your kids up for free books during the event.
All proceeds will go to Greater Gallatin United Way's Dolly Parton's Imagination Library program in Park County.
