Dirty Fox 5-Bikers vs Runners-Five Hour Relay Trail Race

We did the math. Mountain Bike Riders ride twice as fast as Trail Runners. In this five hour race, mountain bike riders and trail runners will battle for trail supremacy on the technical dirt trails of Franke Park in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Runners and Riders will complete as many laps as they can in the five hour time limit. Riders will follow a five mile path on the west side of the park. Runners will follow a three mile path on the east side of the park. Assemble your crew of Riders or Runners and hit the Franke Park Trails for five hours of competitive fun... or you can compete as a solo rider or runner and finish as many laps as you can in the five hour time limit.
Riders and runners will share the timing mat and complete many full laps as they can in the five hour time limit. No credit will be given for incomplete laps! The team that completes the highest number of full laps will be declared the Overall Champs. We will also award the top MTB team and top running team. Volunteers will grill food for competitors and serve it it the pavilion. Teams will be able to set up camp and near the Exchange Zone near the Duck Pond Pavilion. Race fees inlude a meal and drinks for race participants. The registration fee of $150 per team includes race fees, food, drinks and an event shirt. Team captains are responsible for team fees.
Team trophy sets will be awared to the top running team and the top riding team.
Funds generated from the race will be donated two groups. Summit City Singletrack will receive funds for trail maintenance and projects. Funds raised for the Getting Miles Athletic Club pay for local free races hosted by Getting Miles. Endurance athletes of all levels are welcome to participate! Event details and schedule
Trail runners will follow a three mile loop in the east side of Franke Park. The running route will include the challenging Derby Hill and Roller Coaster segments.
Riders will follow a five mile loop on the west side of the park. The MTB route will include the challenging Christmas and Foxy trail segments.
Each team must have one participant with the chip timer on the trails at all times during the race. Participants will hand off the chip timer band to a team member in the Exchange Zone. All laps must be completed within the five hour time limit. Teams and solo participants will have the oppurtunity to setup a home base near the Exchange Zone.
Solo participants will follow the same routes as relay team participants. There will not be an aid station on the course. We will have food and drink will be available for participants near the Exchange Zone.
There will be a timing mat at the start/finish line. The running and riding teams that complete the most laps in five hours will win bragging rights and a cool trophy. In the event of a tie, the team that completes the fastest time on the first lap will be declared the winner.
Although running and riding routes have been designated, we may to need adjust them as needed due to exciting trail projects and park construction projects.
Riders must wear a bicycle helmet. We also recommend safety glasses for riders.
Packet pickup on race day will be available in the Duck Pond Pavilion until 8:45. Parking is available at the Duck Pond Pavilion.
