Detoor came about when a group of local riders got together and asked, “How do we get more people to join us?” We’ve loved watching the gravel scene explode in Vermont and have been inspired to throw our hat into the ring while addressing common barriers to participation. Detoor represents another way there.
We aim to offer a truly local event that is small-scale and down to earth. We aim to keep entry costs low, focus on riding, and support riders of all ages and abilities to bring our community closer together.
Detoor allows you to choose your own adventure. You have the option to pedal the route or race the clock, and either way, we highly encourage you to stop and smell the flowers… or at least take a shot of maple syrup somewhere along the way.
Two route options: 40ish or 85ish miles.
Exact start/finish location TBD, but both routes will feature quiet dirt roads, plenty of climbs, and a few unmaintained sections. Routes will be finalized and sent out a week before the event. Both courses will feature at least one aid station with water and basic snacks. We will indicate additional re-stock options along the route.
Races will be single wave, mass start for each distance, with untimed riders starting as soon as the racers are off.
Whatever route you choose to take, we hope to see you there!
Finally, in the interest of transparency and keeping bike races affordable, here is our estimated breakdown of your registration dollars:
