Chasing Rainbows is a social 5k community run, walk, or stroll.
Join us October 12, 2024 for our 2nd annual charity race that pays tribute to Pregnancy, Infant, and Child Loss Awareness Month, and supports those who have experienced the unimaginable loss of a loved one. This event is a celebration of resilience, compassion, and solidarity, and to remember all those who left us far too soon. We will come together to honor and remember. Beyond extending a comforting hand to those who grieve, we're also proud to champion the cause of the Maternal Alloimmunization Foundation, the OBX Mommy and Me, and The Chasing Rainbows Foundation. Lace up your sneakers, join our community, and let your steps echo the stories of strength and hope as we stride towards a brighter future.
Chasing Rainbows 5k is in honor of and dedicated to my son, B.B. Collins, who died in 2019 from hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN) caused by maternal alloimmunization. Following his death, my family and I received tremendous support from the local OBX Mommy and Me during our time of grieving. Later, as we attempted to wrap our heads around our rare medical condition, the Maternal Alloimmunization Foundation was a guiding light, which eventually led to our Rainbow baby. Through the support of these organizations and our family and friends I began to find a purpose in the devastating loss. I have created The CHasing Rainbows Foundation to ** The proceeds raised from this race will go to each of these organizations. The Maternal Alloimmunization Foundation works to spread knowledge, advocate for patients, and improve healthcare practices. OBX Mommy and Me provides an inclusive space where families come together for social events, support one another, and teach our future generation to interact with our community in a positive way.
