Blobfest 5k and Children's Fun Run!

The BEST Phoenixville running event (with the BEST medals) during the BEST local holiday in all of America, is BACK and EVEN MORE BLOBTACULAR THAN EVER for the 25th anniversary of Blobfest!

On Sunday July 14th, Steve McQueen and YOU star in the horror movie of the century! Uh...last century! 

Every year, Phoenixville, PA celebrates Blobfest in honor of 1958's The BLOB. And every year, we throw a running party to help celebrate and support the historic Colonial Theatre that stars in the film! This year, in addition to our 5K,10K, and kids' fun-run, we will have a half marathon! 

Course Decoration Contest! 
Not a runner? Get a group of friends together to participate in our course decoration contest and you could win gift cards to our local Phoenixville restaurants. Here's how it works: Your group will be given an area on the 5K course to decorate in some Blob (or other monster/alien) theme. The only rule is that you don't obstruct or startle our runners. After the race, runners will vote for the best scenes and the winners will receive gift cards!   Location: The starting area is under the Gay Street Bridge in Phoenixville, PA (the same location as the Phoenixville Farmer's Market). The closest address is 200 Mill Street.

Parking: There is a good deal of parking in Phoenixville, but we expect over 500 runners, so we STRONGLY ENCOURAGE CARPOOLING (or walking to the start if you live close by). There are two municipal lots near the starting area. One is accessible by the driveway between the Municipal building and the Foodery (325 Bridge Street). The other is on the corner of Taylor Alley and South Main Street. There is also street parking on the streets around downtown. 

Flexible Options: If you register for the half marathon but the day comes and it is very hot (or for any reason), you can drop down to the 10K or 5K. Just tell our timer at the starting line.    Starting Times: Half marathon: 7 am / 10K: 8 am / 5K: 8:05 am / Kids' Run 8:10 am
Bib Pickup: There are 2 options for packet pickup this year. 
SATURDAY 7/13 11am to 5 pm @ the RUNegades table at the Blobfest Street Fair on Bridge Street in Phoenixville.
RACE DAY 7/14 starting @ 6 am.  
 
Water Stops:
Half Marathon miles 1.3, 3, 4.3, 6.8, 7.6, 9.3, and 11.7
5K at the top of Cromby Hill (Mile 1.4).
10K miles 1.4, 2, 4, and 5. (These stops will be roughly miles 4 and 5 on the way back of the 10K). 

COURSE CUT-OFF: Due to the July heat, the half marathon cut-off time will be a strict 3:30. Walkers are encouraged to participate in the 5K or 10K.

Steel City Offer: Steel City Coffeehouse and Brewery at 203 Bridge Street in Phoenixville is offering 10% off all purchases for runners who show their bibs after the race!
All 5K/10K participants who register by June 28th will guarantee a unique race-themed T-shirt! And all 5K, 10K, and half marathon finishers will receive a spectacular 4" Blobfest medal!   All participants in the kids fun-run receive a finisher's ribbon and prize. 
5K, 10K, and 1/2 marathon awards: The top 3 M/F overall and the top 3 M/F in each of the following age groups will be recognized: 14 & Under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+

But that's not all!! We'll have special rewards for best dressed, best course decorations, and most Blobbiest team!   A portion of your registration fees and 100% of all donations will go to The Historic Colonial Theatre, the site of The Blob's most famous scene!   INDESCRIBABLE! INDESTRUCTIBLE! NOTHING CAN STOP IT! (is that old poster about the Blob...or YOU?)

RACE DAY 7/14 starting @ 6 am.     2024 Pacers: We will have pacers for this year's 10K AND half marathon. Find your pacer at the start area before the race.

Half Marathon pace groups (by finishing time): 1:35 / 1:45 / 2:00 / 2:15 / 2:30
