AMIkids Manatee is a prevention program serving middle school boys who, because of a variety of adverse childhood experiences, are at-risk for involvement with the juvenile justice system. AMIkids' mission is to protect public safety and positively impact as many youths as possible, empowering them to discover their full potential. A 501c3, nonprofit organization, AMIkids works in partnership with youth agencies, local communities, and families. We are nationally accredited by Cognia, formerly AdvancED, and recognized by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP). Using the AMIkids' research-based approach known as our Personal Growth Model (PGM), services include experiential learning with opportunities such as drone and robotics education, digital literacy, coding, cyber security, the floating classroom in partnership with Mote Marine, and an introduction to scuba diving along with other marine education opportunities. Our vocational program focuses on assisting the youth to discover their career interests while giving them an opportunity to earn industry certifications. The objective is to instruct the youth in responding appropriately to conflict, recognizing external triggers, and problem solving, while employing comprehensive educational services designed to increase learning gains, reduce gaps and prepare for college and careers.
