Kinsley was diagnosed very unexpectedly with Leukemia on March 25, 2020. She was diagnosed at just three years of age amid a global pandemic. Four hundred days and counting have passed, and she finally just hit a crucial and monumental phase of her treatment. In her first year of therapy, Kinsley has undergone some of the most aggressive and intense chemo treatments one can imagine. No one, especially a small child, should ever have to endure what Kinsley has gone through. She has had four bone marrow procedures, 19 spinal taps to date, and 23 COVID tests. Kinsley has also had approximately 100 days of port accesses, and many blood and platelet transfusions, which led to several unexpected inpatient hospital stays, which lasted for weeks at a time. Although she is in maintenance, she will continue to receive oral chemo and various medications. Kinsley will have to start other forms of treatment, such as physical therapy. Even when her body hurts and she is experiencing the impact of childhood cancer, Kinsley continues to keep a big beautiful smile on her face. Her positivity and strength are truly remarkable. She is a hero to her family and her 9-year-old sister, and we continue to hope and pray that she will overcome this battle. Come run/walk with Kid Courage!
