Iznik Ultramarathon

Nestled in the historic town of İznik, renowned for its 2500-year legacy and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Tentative Site, the İznik Ultra Marathon is a must for dedicated athletes. Attracting over 1,200 competitors from 26 nations, this three-day festival boasts a spectrum of trail challenges with distances of 160 km, 47 km, and 25 km, in addition to a 14 km Çamdibi trail and a demanding 5 km UNESCO Historical City Run. There's even a Children's Run to inspire young athletes. With around 2,500 sports enthusiasts and fans present, the atmosphere is electric and brimming with energy. As runners navigate paths surrounded by 21 villages and neighborhoods, they are motivated by fervent local support.The İznik Ultra Marathon offers novices a chance to gauge their stamina on the 14 km and 25 km courses, while veteran runners can test their limits on the formidable 47 km and 160 km ultra-marathons. Conquering the 160 km race is a rare achievement, with only a quarter of participants completing it in 2019, underscoring the race's tough terrain. Participants experience diverse weather conditions, spanning four seasons in just 30 hours.
