イベントについて

Since 1996, the Angkor Wat International Half Marathon has been held at the renowned UNESCO World Heritage site of Angkor Wat in northern Cambodia. Angkor Archaeological Park is one of the most important archaeological sites in Southeast Asia, covering approximately 400 square kilometers of forested areas and containing the remains of several capitals of the Khmer Empire from the 9th to the 15th centuries, including the famous temple of Angkor Wat and the Bayon temple at Angkor Thom.

Participants from all over the world join the marathon to support the ban on the manufacture of antipersonnel mines. Entry fees and additional financial support are used to provide prosthetic limbs, social reintegration programs, and other essential programs such as HIV / AIDS prevention and education.

Completed the Half Marathon event on Sunday, 3 December 2023. Very well organised. Water stations every 2kms - sealed 500ml bottled water. Electrolyte drinks and bananas were also offered along the route. Clean western toilet blocks were also available along the route. Running amidst the lush forests provided a natural canopy enveloping the breathtaking temples of Angkor Wat. Racecourse preview: https://youtu.be/eRSvZ7OFKmg?si=Q5hkMLY-7SMDJ4tn Paid US$10 for a return trip for a Tuk Tuk driver to/from our hotel in Siem Reap to the start/finish line. There were over 10,000 participants from 78 countries, mostly from the UK, USA and France. Received a race t-shirt, finishers' t-shirt and medal. December is the country's coolest time of the year. Although it was 23 degrees C at the start, humidity was at 90% made it challenging.

I completed the Angkor Wat International Half Marathon on Sunday, December 3rd and really enjoyed it. The event was well-organised, and I would recommend it to all runners. They provided bottled water at water stations every 2 kms as well as bananas/energy drinks along the route. Over 10,000 participants from 78 countries took part in the event, with the majority from the UK, USA, and France. It was disappointing to note that Australia wasn't mentioned, considering it's closer to Cambodia than other participating countries. Running through the forest of Angkor Wat temples under the natural canopy, constituting 90% of the route, was breathtaking. The event commenced at 5:30 am, embracing the serene darkness with a mild 23°C temperature and a challenging 90% humidity! Although I wasn't happy with my finish time, I’m grateful for the incredible, humbling, and unforgettable experience. After the event, we had an organised private tour of Siem Reap including Angkor Thom and enjoyed learning about its history. I was amazed that the oldest temples, Pre Rup temple & Banteay Srei temple, were built in the 10th century. We also visited a Khmer village to gain a better understanding of Cambodian rural life, along with an insight into traditional Khmer culture. We also visited Phnom Penh where we went to the Royal Palace, and explored the Toul Sleng Prison Museum and the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek - both were grim reminders of Cambodia's bloody past under Pol Pot.

Well organised race. Beautiful route for running. My only complaint would be on the water stations. Drinks should be served in cups. Offering 500ml drinking water at each water station will cause so much wastage

Route / place is just amazing! People is fantastic!! What should be improved - flag off according to pace; it is very dark at the beginning and lights need to be provided until the second turn; at the end of the race we were mixed with 10km "runners" walking all over the route with kids, dogs ... this is not acceptable and must be improved.

Great run in ancient area. Enjoyed the temples and the well organized run.

Lovely route. The organization provided plenty of drinking/eating during the during to be able to deal with weather conditions.

I've run the Angkor Half Marathon twice and this year did the 10K. I really enjoy the Angkor events. From making the booking to number collection to race-day arrangements, the organization is excellent. This year was no exception and all my arrangements went to plan. Had a blast on the course chatting to other runners and the North Gate / South Gate route through Angkor Thom was fine. It's often hot and this year was no different, so if you choose to do this unique event, prepare to sweat!

I have done the Half Marathon before and the route is fantastic, taking you out past Ta Prohm temple and back through the spectacular South Gate. This year I did the 10K which takes a south-north return route between the two main gates to the city. The Half Marathon route is better, but the 10K is still though an amazing forest and temple landscape and passes by the Bayon temple. It's a 10K through an archaeological park; a truly unique setting for a race. I highly recommend it.

A flat road race in a spectacular setting. Recommend adding this to the bucket list!

The half marathon runs in the Angkor Wat Unesco World Heritage area, free of any vehicles and therefore the road is used only by the runners. Great weather to run in December but I would suggest the organizers to have departing blocks as unfortunately too many slow runners were on the front and could have created some incidents as the race starts at 05:30 AM and still darksnd fast runners got stuck by them.It was my first experience to run there but I was very pleased by water stations located every 2 km and all the road pavement in excellent condition. Certainly I will go there again and I recommend fellow runners to run there

The distance of the half marathon covers the majority of the park and it crosses over beautiful places and as well side by side with the lake.

I have been going to this race twice already - it's an amazing 21KM race in the famous Angkor Wat temples in Cambodia. The sunrise half way through the race is just cherry on top! Overall, the race is very well organised, with lots of water, sport drinks and snacks on the stands, and great complimentary refreshments after your race as well. There are people from every nationality doing this race and it just feels like being part of a big friendly international family reunion. Would love to go to more editions in the future!
