Breast Reconstruction Awareness Close the Loop

Welcome back for the seventh year of The Plastic Surgery Foundation's Close the Loop 5K! The Close the Loop 5K brings together plastic surgeons, patients, and the public in an effort to raise awareness and funds to support breast reconstruction charitable care and research.

Despite breast cancer death rates slowly decreasing over the last 30 years, breast cancer remains a devastating disease where an estimated 313,520 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in the U.S. in 2024. Breast reconstruction is a very personal choice — everyone should have access to options before they have to make a decision. Profits generated are awarded to organizations focused on awareness and assistance efforts of individuals fighting breast cancer or pursuing breast reconstructive surgery. Thanks to the BRA program, The Plastic Surgery Foundation has allocated 188 grants, totaling over $2 million in awards.

This year's 5K will take place in San Diego, CA on Friday, September 27, at 7:00 AM PST during Plastic Surgery The Meeting 2024.  Funds generated by the Close the Loop 5K will be awarded to organizations through the Breast Reconstruction Awareness Campaign of The Plastic Surgery Foundation (PSF), the philanthropic arm of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
