International Ultra Trail Vjosa Wild River

The "Wild River Vjosa International Ultra Trail" is a cultural and sports event organized by "Marathon Albania" in collaboration with the municipalities of Gjirokastër district in Albania. The marathon, supported by the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, showcases the beauty of the Vjosa River as participants have the opportunity to run various distances ranging from 11 km to 100 km.
The marathon path follows the scenic "Wild Vjosa" river, passing through picturesque villages like Çarshovë, Përmet, and Tepelenë. Runners will experience soft terrain with minimal elevation changes, meadows, vineyards, the historic Qelova Church, and stunning landscapes throughout the course. The trail also offers views of the Këlcyrës Gorge, regional dishes for lunch, and historic bridges such as Peshtan and Dragot.
During the marathon, participants can appreciate the natural beauty and cultural richness of the region, with detailed information provided on historical landmarks and tourist sites along the route. The trail is designed exclusively for runners and walkers, intersecting with highways only via footbridges.
