Egyptian Marathon

What an AMAZING race experience.. It is my third time to join Luxor Marathon, and of course, will not be the last ensha'a Allah (God willing). Really It was AWESOME!! I wonder about the old reviews I've seen herewith and the unbelievable comments since 2015.. That means to me either these comments are not true, and I doubt, or there are severe and extreme changes happened during last years for this Marathon and its administration which turned everything upside down. Expo: - Arrived on time, traffic well planned - Warm-hearted organisers - Wonderful weather - Epic atmosphere https://m.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=936576058598217&set=a.421453056777189&type=3 https://m.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=936577095264780&set=a.421453056777189&type=3 - Nice T-shirt design, included while registration - Lockers available - Wonderful spectators - Cheers 🫲 from volunteers, children👬👭 https://m.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=936576065264883 - All vibes were stunning Race: - The route is nearly flat regardless of a gentle decline at the beginning and same gentle incline at the end. - Nutrition (water, banana, dates, electrolytes, cola "personally I didn't catch, but other runner mates could") every 2.5km introduced by Hilton Hotel awesome prestigious waiters - Starting under the historic temple of Queen Hatshepsut and race spans multiple historical places crossing a lot of Egyptian ancient monuments such as the temple of Habou, the temple of Amenophis, the Colossi of Memnon, and much more.. keeping in mind that Luxor city only has one-third of the world’s ancient monuments such as the Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple, Valley of Kings, Valley of the Queens, and the Temple of Deir al-Bahri. There are a large number of ancient monasteries, graves, ancient Egyptian temples, and numerous monuments that attract everyone from all around the world to Luxor. I've been to some of these places before and after the race day. Wishes: - More sponsors to engage - Full marathon route could be changed to 2 laps instead of 4 by adjusting the route - More Toilets - More signs for kilometres are needed I had a great time at the Egyptian Luxor Marathon, and I enjoyed it to the fullest.. I really recommend it for everyone.

Great route , full of history, friendly people, almost flat , sunny and nice weather. Well organized . Excellent transportation. What I wish to enhance is to add more toilets , changing rooms and coffee / snacks market

The route is flat and nice . It's two rounds each of 10 km + 2 kms

Very well organized very friendly all participants from all the world was very appreciated, the check points was very professionaly and organized especially the water cups and bananas very proud to participate in such and would be next year

Very enjoyable race, the course was flat and not many people did the full marathon. But I would say it was one of my best runs and fast finishing time. The air was nice and the temperature on the day was very favorable. You have to run around a loop course 4 times, but it was well organized. I liked the fact that it was largely flat and and enjoyable run.

This is a smaller race but I found it extremely well-organized. Easy pick-up of running bib the day before and race director (Nada) was very helpful. It’s a 4-loop course for the full marathon but seeing the temple and monument ruins (especially sunrise as we started from Hatshepsut Temple) made it a great course to run. The streets were well-blocked and lots of police presence made me feel safe even though I was running alone for much of the race. Water stations (bottled water) and bananas every 2-3 miles. I appreciated they kept the water stations open until everyone finished. Overall definitely recommend...great location, flat course, nice race team!

Race held on the 15th of January 2021.

If you are looking for a historic place and an exotic medal this is your race. Pick-up of the race number, start on time and good refreshment supply are on international level. The scenery and the motivation of the organisation team are more than great. Cool Egyption medals !!! If you are expection and interantional standard registration process, credit card online payment and race results some hours after the race you will be disappointed. On top you have to run 4 times a 10 km circle. You can register on the event homepage and you get a confirmation e-mail that your request arrived. Some days later you get an e-mail (looks more like a pishing e-mail) where they offer you a hotel package. Only after some weeks of e-mail exchange I got bank details and had to transfer the participation fee. I also had to bear the bank fees which brought the participation fee up to almost 110 EUR :-( But all in all a great exprience and an interessting race

It is 4 loops of 10k but you don't feel it as the loops are long, they run by historic locations and there are are people cheering at every turn. The course is flat, you can attempt your PB here as the temperature is cool and the air is clean and low on humidity. There is a stretch on about 2-3km where there is no shade, wearing sun protection and sun glasses help as you run into the 3rd and 4th hour. The start of the race is very scenic as the hot air balloons take flight. Best to take your camera along for some pics, if you're very keen on having photos by each iconic location along the course. The race is well organized and everything happens on time. The aid stations are well stocked with water, juice, bananas and dates. The race isn't too crowded and is a unique experience, I highly recommend it.

4 loops of 10k, but it's not boring as the course is along historic locations. Carry some electrolytes and gels if necessary. Water and bananas are available at the aid stations. Sun protection is recommended if you are running for more than 2 hours.

Let's try it, I wish to see this marathon successful..and have a lot of people from over the world.. Good luck
