Breaking the Silence of Sexual Abuse 5K & 10K - MO

It’s in our community, it’s highly likely that it affects a child or an adult that you know. Sexual Abuse. Affecting 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys by the time they reach 18 years of age. A statistic that's reached from only the 38% that disclose. The problem is bigger than we realize.

Join us as survivors and supporters as we empower our community to breakthrough ALL of the statistics associated with the epidemic of child sexual abuse. Awareness = prevention. We're bringing awareness through conversation, education, and adult survivor stories.

We're reaching survivors who've stayed alone and unhealed because of their secret. We're reaching all of the community to talk to their children. For 2024 we're FLippInG the ScRIpt on the epidemic of child sexual abuse, you won't want to miss the pre-race message.

The community of supporters will go on to run or walk the race and make it to their own celebrated finish lines.

We invite you to be a part of the change as supporters or survivors of all paces. Walkers are welcome!

*For those who are bringing children, the speaker prior to the run will discuss sexual abuse issues. Rain or shine, no refunds available for this event.

Registration includes *race shirt and custom finishing medal. Ghetto Tacos will be onsite selling breakfast burritos!

Survivor pins are available for those who wish to wear their freedom during their run. Survivor volunteers for the Survivor line are encouraged to contact race director. [email protected]

Course description: This 5K & 10K course begins at Landreth park and through Joplin's beautiful Frisco Greenway Trail as an out-and-back race.

Awards: Prizes will be given to overall male and female finishers. 1-3rd place awards for age categories: 12 & under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-49, 50-60, 61+ 

*T-shirts: T-shirts are guaranteed for every registration prior to April 15th. After April 15th, shirts will be given on a first come, first serve basis.

Packet pickup: Packets can be picked up Friday, April 26th, at Social BTB in Joplin from 4-6pm. For race day packet pickup a Landreth Park 7:15am-8:15am. Please arrive early to give yourself time to park and check in prior to pre race event that begins at 8:15am.

Virtual Option is available! Runners who are unable to attend race day can sign up for the Virtual event.  Directions: Run your virtual race distance on any course (including the treadmill) and anytime during the month of April. On or after race day, post your time result on the Facebook event page. Our staff will then mail your race shirt, finisher medal & survivor pin if requested. Virtual runners are not eligible for overall or age category awards.
