Alpha Phi Thankful 5k

The "Thankful 5k" is a race that brings together the Zeta Iota chapter of Alpha Phi, family members, and the wider UVA and Charlottesville communities to honor Shelley Goldsmith and Casey Schulman, two inspiring members of Alpha Phi at UVA. Funds raised from the event are donated to foundations and scholarships in their names, supporting students pursuing higher education. The race includes an in-person 5k on the UVA Grounds along with a virtual component for those unable to attend in person. The event is a tribute to Casey's positivity and kindness, symbolized by the "Thankful" sign she kept above her bed, and aims to celebrate the enduring legacies of both Casey and Shelley. Visitors are reminded to supervise minors at all times during the event.
