Leftovers in July 5k/10k

Been missing cross country? Want to support new runners joining the sport? John’s Run/Walk Shop is proud to present our newest chip-timed cross country opportunity, the Leftovers in July Cross Country 5k/10k!

The Leftovers XC 5k/10k benefits John’s Run/Walk Shop’s Fast Track Fund, our newest initiative designed to support high school runners in need of spikes. This fund aims to enable young athletes to compete on their high school track or cross country teams, regardless of their financial circumstances. As a community driven movement, this fund will allow runners in our community to “relay the torch” to younger athletes entering our sport for the first time. Countless runners have core memories of joining their local team, founding a lifetime of passion for running and competing. By providing financial assistance for spikes through this fund, we hope to ignite that same passion and draw more people into the sport we love. 

To ensure the Fast Track Fund reaches those who need it most, we will be collaborating closely with local track and cross country coaches to help identify high school runners in the community who may need assistance acquiring spikes. Our deepest hope is that this fund will level the playing field and ensure that anyone who wants to run has a chance to chase their dreams. Let’s all work together to make our team a little bigger.

As this race benefits local runners who may be joining our sport for the first time, we want to maximize how much we can donate to the Fast Track Fund. BUT, we don’t want to send you home without some awesome race swag! Every year we put on races with awesome swag, but we ALWAYS have leftover shirts and awards! So for this race, you’ll be able to pick out either a technical racing shirt or a super comfy tee shirt from one of our previous races at packet pick-up, and a finisher award of your choosing from a previous race after you cross the finish line!

A portion of all registration fees will go directly to the Fast Track Fund, so come join us for a great cross country course, and a great cause
