Sobre el evento
Please join us September 19, 2021 for our 1st Annual Harmon Velie Memorial 5K Run/Walk!
On May 2, 2021, Harmon was running a half marathon when he suddenly and unexpectedly passed away. Harmon had a great passion for many things, and running was certainly one of them. Alongside his son Luke and daughter Andrea, Harmon participated in many running events in the Akron area and state wide for many years.
Harmon loved Akron through and through and loved his family, friends, and the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous. He served on the Founder’s Day Committee of Alcoholics Anonymous for 30 years, served as the Chairman on the Board of Dr. Bob’s Home, as well as in other various capacities in AA and the community. He spent tireless hours in the recovery community and carried a message that was profound. Harmon dedicated many years of service to others and truly made a tremendous impact to this world. His light, message, energy and his love will never be lost and we want to carry on all Harmon did with this memorial event.
Harmon was a wonderful husband, father, Papa and friend to all he knew. The donations and proceeds of the Harmon Velie Memorial 5K Run/Walk will go to support the places Harmon served and cared for – Dr. Bob’s House, Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, Salvation Army and St. Hilary Parish. On behalf of his wife, four children and many close family and friends, we hope you can join us to celebrate and honor a great man, his joy for life and his commitment to all he did! Live life like Harmon – Happy, Joyous & Free!
