Walkin' In Boots 5K

Our goal for this event is to raise $10,000! About 1 in 260 children in the United States will develop cancer before the age of 20. In 2024, it is estimated that 14,910 children in the US will be diagnosed with cancer. That breaks down to over 40 children per day who are devastated by the news that they have been diagnosed with cancer. These are staggering statistics and ones that we are committed to changing. We are Dukes Against Childhood Cancer, a student-run organization (not a non-profit) at James Madison University, whose mission is to advocate for, bring awareness of, and contribute to the fight against, pediatric cancer. On September 22, 2024, we will be debuting our “Walkin’ In Boots 5K”, on Festival Lawn at James Madison University, to raise money for MCV Children’s Hospital’s oncology patients, but we can’t do it without your help! “Walk a few miles in the boots of those battling and who have battled pediatric cancer”.
