Trail do Texugo

The Trail do Texugo is a race held in Serra D'Ossa, Redondo, District of Évora, famed for its challenging kilometers of trails and high altitude gain. Local legend states that the great Viriato Lusitano descended to the mountain's peak, S. Gens, to confront the Roman armies. The area has been inhabited since the Bronze Age and was home to the first Christian hermits, giving the mountain its name. Participants will be able to enjoy the wonderful views, scent of its flora, and perhaps even spot some of its fauna. The race will begin and end in the Aldeia of Serra D'Ossa, a quaint village where women used to congregate to discuss their day-to-day struggles. With a desertification crisis affecting Alentejo, Trail do Texugo hopes to bring the area much needed attention and a fresh spirit.
