The 10th Annual Run for Rett Syndrome: Remembering Breanna Leatherwood is a Grand Prix event. It is a 4 mile (6K) run and a One mile Purple Fun Walk at the beautiful Bowers Park. The run will begin at Minnie Sellers Pavilion. The course will run around the entire park two times with the final lap ending in front of the Minnie Sellers pavilion. The run course has combination of flat land and slight hills.
The event is a family oriented atmosphere that encourage fellowship with families enduring the Rett syndrome journey or any other developmental disability. It is a relaxing atmosphere filled with smiles and laughter as runners and walkers interact and embrace the simple pleasures of life.
The event honor the life of Breanna Leatherwood,1996-2013. The 16 years of her life was plagued with multiple challenges of living with Rett Syndrome.
Your support will directly impact Rett syndrome angels and help raise awareness of this rare developmental disability that primarily affect females.
This is the 10th annual Run for Rett Syndrome: Remembering Breanna Leatherwood run is being held to raise awareness of Rett syndrome. Rett syndrome is a developmental disability that primarily affects girls causing loss of motor skills and the ability to talk. The health is quite fragile resulting in seizures, and difficulty with breathing, chewing and swallowing. Daily challenges are faced by those affected as families struggle to ensure the health and educational services are provided.
