Ioannina Lake Run

Well organized run, it was amazing run.. 30 kilometers flat around the lake of Ioannina. It was really nice experience.. So you should run there🏃💨

Ioannina Lake Run is my favourite run in Greece. Amazing track, great people and perfectly organized. The great atmosphere at start/finish, it touches if you run past the orthodox church close to Ioannina, the great support and the beautiful landscape - I love this run!

I did run the 30κ three times (2016, 2017 & 2018).

I did the 10K in 2018 and will do again the 10K in 2019. The location is truly beautiful. Start and finish are at a long square next to the lake. The many trees, the cafes and the few old buildings make this spot particularly scenic. Scenic is the route, too. The first few KM you run along the road next to the fortress and the lake, then you pass by some cafes and restaurants before you turn off to a road with hardy any buildings. The last bit of the route is on a cycling and walking path. Then you make a U-Turn and run the same way back. A few friends of mine did the 30K, which goes once around the lake. 2018 was a hot day, so all of us suffered. But the 30K is also very beautiful to run. The volunteers were in a good mood, police officers and everyone involved were very helpful and at the finish was a big crowd waiting and cheering all the finishers. The medal was designed by a student from the faculty of arts, so it's a little masterpiece. Every year a different student designs the medal, which stands out from the standard ones you get elsewhere.
