5K Run & 2K Family Fun with Water Gun Run or Walk

MCTS (McLean County Tamil Sangam,/Association a not-for-profit organization) is first time organizing this event, Sangamam, on July 22nd, 2023, Saturday at 8:00 AM.

The Word "Sangamam" ("சங்கமம்") in the Tamil Language means, Confluence or assembly or junction or in simple terms, Join together in one place. Tamil is one of the oldest and most classical languages in the world.

The primary purpose of this event is to bring the entire community together and show our Indian community presence and our support by giving back to the community where we live. As part of this, part of the proceeds from the profit that we receive through the registration will be donated to local non-profits that have local programs to Overcome Poverty and/or provide food supplies for the needy. We also intend to donate Tamil Language literature books to Bloomington Public Library.

This timed 5k Run starts and finishes at the Tipton Trail South Shelter located at 2401 General Electric Road Bloomington, IL 61704. The 5K Run will be on the nicely paved Tipton Trail and/or Constitution Trail adjacent to the Tipton Trail.  Water stations will be available on the course. Strollers and walkers are welcome, but please no headphones.

@2K Family Fun Water Gun Run or Walk will also be on the Tipton Trail South Shelter. Toy Water Guns will be provided to the registered Kids below 15 years.

There will be volunteers at each mile marker and intersection for traffic control but the course will be open to traffic for the public.  Post-race kids' fun games are also planned.  Race Shirt is guaranteed to all registered participants who are pre-registered by July 10th, 2023. After that and through race day, a Race Shirt is not guaranteed. 

Packet Pickup and race day registration start at 7:00 am in the Tipton Trial (South Shelter) on July 22nd.

Entry Fee: $15 for Adults(16 and Older) and $10 for Kids(15 and under) through July 10th, 2023, post which and a day before Race Day, the prices change to $ 20 for Adults(16 and Older) and $15 for Kids(15 and under). Dry-fit Race Shirts are provided free of cost for all Registration until July 10th, 2023.

FREE ENTRY for 1 to 3 years old & Grand Parents/Seniors(60 & Above). No free T-Shirts are provided. (Please contact the MCTS committee if you need T-Shirts for them)

5K Awards: Top overall male and female. Age bracket awards: 15 & under, 15-20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, 60&Up

2K Family Fun Run/Walk Awards: Top 3 Families, Individual category 3& under, 4-6, 7-9, 10-15
