Informazioni sull'evento
Thank you for your support of Jordan’s Run!
We are proud to be part of the Suffolk County Veterans Run Series
Jordan Haerter grew up in the small village of Sag Harbor, NY, and graduated from Pierson High School in 2006. He went to Parris Island for the 12-week boot camp as a recruit in September 2006 and became a proud United States Marine on Dec 1st, 2006. He was assigned in fleet with 1st Battalion, 9th Marines, and deployed to Ramadi, Iraq in March of 2008. LCpl Jordan C. Haerter, alongside Cpl. Jonathan T. Yale were guarding the checkpoint and Nasser Joint Security Station. They stopped an explosive-laden suicide tank truck from entering the compound with precision firing, the explosion taking their lives, but saving the lives of 33 Marines, Iraqi policemen, and countless Iraqi civilians. Jordan was killed in action on 22 April 2008, just 19 years old. He was Sag Harbor’s first battlefield loss since World War ll. The 2 Marines posthumously earned the Navy Cross for Extraordinary Heroism, our Nation's second-highest award for valor in combat. The bridge that Jordan’s Run crosses was renamed in his honor “Lance Cpl. Jordan Haerter Veterans’ Memorial Bridge.” To learn more about Jordan, visit our website, www.injordanshonor.com Register by JULY 4th, to guarantee a Tech shirt in your size!
