The route
The race will start at 9.30am at The Old School approx. 5 mins walk from race headquarters and registration at Indian Queens Working Mens Club. There is an industrial estate to the left of the start where runners can be held for the race briefing away from traffic. To the right is another industrial estate which is the main car parking area.
The finish will be at the Working Mens Club, which occupies a large private surrounding area of tarmac and grass for our use. There will be portable toilets in addition to the club facilities but no showers. There will be a system of barriers to keep any spectators away from the finishers for the final 50 yards. The club has an alcohol licence and there will also be soft drinks available, a mobile tea/coffee stand and mobile burger van. Water will also be available.
The circular course makes use of country lanes and 7 miles of traffic free Goss Moor Trail. Approx. 3.5 miles into the race is an unmanned train level crossing. Runners will have 50 minutes to complete that distance or be stopped to allow the small train to pass. They will be made aware of this on the entry form. As well as being marshalled there may be a representative of Network Rail in attendance. The first water station would be sited approx. 50 yards prior to the crossing in the car park.
Apart from a 2 mile section of firm gravel trail the rest is tarmac. There will be water stations approx. every 3 miles and a sponge station at the top of the short hill at Menna.
