About the event

The gorgeous, hilly Swiss city of Lausanne is a fitting destination for a solid, challenging running event, precisely like the Lausanne Marathon. Just like many other cities in Switzerland, Lausanne is full of stunning Alpine views. What makes it unique, however, is the lovely waterfront of Lake Geneva.

All these features are characteristic of the Lausanne Marathon’s course as well. Moreover, the city itself is full of sights, museums and landmarks, such as the mediaeval centre — also part of the race’s route.

Another strong point of the Lausanne Marathon is its expert-level organisation, experienced by thousands of athletes already.

It was my first time to run 10 km Marathon, and ran in a foreign country as I just arrived to work in Geneva in July this year. 10 km might be a very short distance for many Marathonists but for me who didn't really work out much until then, finishing it is really an ordeal I have never dared to dream about. Although it was very cold that day, the cheer from the crowd and the hands they stretched out to encourage me were full of warmth. I am already planning to take part again in 2019.

10 km is not easy for a beginner like me of this age but that I finished it would push me forward, I believe.
