The Beat Goes On 5K - Ashville

Come join us for The Beat Goes on 5K! This is a fundraiser for Damion Jones and his family. Damion Jones is a 31 year old male from Ashville, AL. He is married to Shemika Jones and they have a 4 year old , Jaxson Jones , and a baby on the way . Damion Jones has been on a journey of sickness since November 2022. He was diagnosed with COVID in November 2022, then in January underwent a Gallbladder removal. Damion continued to have complications after surgery which led to him being diagnosed with blood clots in his lungs and then later being diagnosed heart failure. He was at first admitted to GRMC then due to his critical condition he was transferred to UAB. Damion was told he would have to undergo a heart transplant. After waiting patiently at UAB for almost a month for a donor, he finally recieved one on Februaury 20, 2023. Damion will have a long road ahead of him and will have to relocate to the area for an extended period of time to ensure his body will not reject the heart. Shemika has stayed by Damions' side the entire time. Both of them will be out of work weeks to months. The 5k fundraiser is to help take some of the financial burden off the Jones family. 

Registration will take place in front of The First Baptist Church beginning at 7:30 A.M. You may registered the day of the race for $30. All participants will recieve a t-shirt. After the race there will be a speaker and the announcement of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners and the overall winner for male and female. Donations will be accepted the day of the event.
