Sobre o evento

In 1988, a group of enthusiasts had a vision to revive the Belgrade Marathon (Beogradski Maraton) - a race that had existed in 1910 from Obrenovac to Belgrade. The first modern Belgrade Marathon took place on May 8 that year with a track length of 46.7 km, starting and finishing in front of the Federal Parliament Building. Since then, the race has been held annually with the standard length of 42.195 km. The 1999 NATO bombing of Yugoslavia did not stop the marathon, which was held on April 17 that year as a group run. Around 40 runners from nine countries completed the race in 3 hours 15 minutes and 16 seconds. The Belgrade Marathon is now one of the biggest sporting events in Serbia, with the City of Belgrade, its departments, the Army of Serbia, the Serbian Police, and sponsors all taking part in the organization. In 2003, Belgrade declared the marathon an event of special importance for the city. The same organizers also arrange the Belgrade Race Through History, a race around the city's Kalemegdan fortress, which has been held since 1996.

The atmosphere was very inspiring and the serbian citizens were great in supporting the runners. It was very nice that at some points during the race there were guys spraying water on the runners (because of the hot weather). There were enough refreshing points. On the other hand, it was too crowded and there were many possibilities of accidents. There weren't many toilets during the route. One big problem here (and this occurs on all marathons) is the trash that the runners do. Lots of almost full bottles, gels, lemon and banana peels were all over the road. It will be good if the organizers think of a way that encourages the runners to be more mindful and throw their rubbish in the recycle bins and drink the water to end before throwing it away. **Belgrade is a very beautiful city with kind people. :)

Zelim organizatorima mnogo uspeha u daljem radu.

I loved the sowers during the race. There are only a few kilometres that are the same and the people from Serbia created the best atmosphere for us.

The event was well organized and all 20 people from my team had only good words to say.

Odlična prošlogodišnja polumaratonska trka. Bilo bi dobro ipak malo korigovati trasu jer uspon uz Knjaza Miloša pri samom kraju deluje vrlo iscrpljujuće. Vreme je bilo malo toplije nego inače.

Great city and lovely people! Flat route to run a PB, unfortunately for me the weather was a killer being 28 degrees, the late start at 10am didn't help either. However, I heard in earlier years the race day was hit by torrential rain so I was perhaps unlucky. Two other criticisms would be the lack of pacers and that all those running the half or the relay started in the same zone. Race entry was cheap as was travel and accommodation so on the whole would recommend.

It is a well-organized event with a positive, supportive atmosphere, a good supply of free pasta party at the fair and drinks along the race, and a central finish line location.

The only thing that exhausted me was the hot and sunny weather and the extended circle along New Belgrade. Everything else was good.

For me, it was my first half marathon, but it was really well organized. I was impressed by the musicians and bands along the course, the route's general flatness, its layout through the Ada Bridge, and its final uphill sections. Water was provided after five kilometers, food (bananas, lemons) after about ten kilometers, and you could get a food pack with an apple, a banana, water, an energetic bar, and other items after finishing. The best part, though, is having supportive spectators, kids, staff, and runners around you. Thank you!

I debated starting at 10, but decided to take on a modest challenge and run 21 kilometers. I had a great time, and I have no regrets.

It was my first half marathon and the first race ever, in my hometown. Very well organized.
